Last week Philippe and I were invited to visit the Zurich Watch & Jewellery Exhibition at the Park Hyatt Hotel. My boyfriend has been quite smitten with a certain Panerai watch for quite some time now, so it was the perfect occasion to try a couple on and lust after it a little more. They are particularly elegant aren't they? Panerai supplied watches to the Royal Italian Navy in 1916 and they are still characterized by specific elements which draw inspiration from functionalities which were useful to the surroundings of the Navy. For example the crown-protecting bridge of the "Luminor" watch, of which the idea was to increase water resistance.
I on the other hand was quite taken with the jewellery of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. I loved the way they incorporate leather and satin into their designs and by doing so make their jewellery very contemporary and wearable. My favorite had to be a ring from their "Lotus" collection, the snake ring. I fully understand the reason why Ole Lynggaard has been the purveyor to The Royal Danish Court for over 40 years.
